Travis Hunter’s jaw-dropping touchdown for Colorado starts his Heisman campaign early

Travis Hunter

Travis Hunter didn’t waste any time to make his case as the best player in college football. The Colorado junior put on a show in the season opener against North Dakota State, flexing his game-breaking talent as both a wide receiver and cornerback. It’s hard to imagine a more impressive Week 1 performance for the two-way threat.

As a wide receiver, Hunter caught three touchdown passes from QB Shedeur Sanders. His third touchdown was art. On third-and-goal, Sanders found Hunter on a fade route, and he somehow caught the ball and stuck the landing despite being absolutely blanketed by the defensive back. If Hunter wins the Heisman this season, this highlight is immediately going to the front of the reel.

This would be a wild touchdown grab for any wide receiver, but of course Hunter isn’t just a star wide receiver. He’s purported to be even more impressive as a defensive back, and in this game he played basically every snap on both sides of the ball. We’ve seen two-way stars before in college football — Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey come to mind — but it’s possible we’ve never seen someone so dominant on both ends like Hunter is.

Hunter’s ability to rack up yards after the catch is so fun to watch. This is art:

Travis Hunter has never played a game where he wasn’t the best athlete on the field. The scary part is I’m not sure he will at the next level either. pic.twitter.com/prezWvaByO

The Buffaloes are a polarizing bunch under Deion, but everyone can agree to that Travis Hunter is awesome.
