The Super Bowl will feature two of the best teams in the NFL facing off in New Orleans. We break down who will be playing and the history for the squads in Super Bowl 59.

Championship weekend is upon us and the matchup for Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans will be finalized by the close of Sunday. The first team in the 2025 Super Bowl matchup is officially settled. The Philadelphia Eagles pulled away from the Washington Commanders in the fourth quarter and are leading 48-23, less than five minutes away from winning the NFC title.

This marks the fifth time the Eagles have reached the Super Bowl, and the second time in three years. They faced the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 and lost that game 38-35 after Harrison Butker kicked a game-winning field goal with eight seconds left. Patrick Mahomes claimed the MVP award while Jalen Hurts had a strong game with a passing touchdown and three rushing touchdowns. This the third straight season the No. 1 seed in the NFC has reached the Super Bowl.

The Eagles will face the winner of the AFC Championship, which features the Chiefs hosting the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. The Eagles and Chiefs are 5-5 in their series history outside of that Super Bowl matchup. The Eagles have a 9-6 all-time record against the Bills, but the two teams have never played in the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 9. Fox will air the game live from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
