Every NBA City Edition jersey in 2023-2024, ranked by how cool they are

Let’s rank the NBA’s City Edition jerseys for the new season. Some of these absolutely stink.

The time has come once again to bring back the tier list. This time, we’re ranking the new NBA City Edition jerseys for the 2023-2024 season.

Overall … these stink.

It’s like they oscillate between not enough creativity or vision or far too much of it, so that all of them look bad. It’s kind of a saddening overall trend with trying to make things look more “modern” and “sleek” that you lose the style and uniqueness that makes the old jerseys pop a lot more. I mean, on some of these, it didn’t look like Nike was even trying to create anything good. It just feels like they’re regurgitating bad concepts in order to try and meet a quota.

Anywho, let’s dig into this tier list, and we’ll break down all the ones I like and all the ones I hate.

S Tier (first priority buy, even if it isn’t my favorite team): none

Sorry, none of these are good enough to make the S-tier. Try again next year!

A Tier (would buy without much hesitation):

Utah Jazz

I’m going to be 100% honest with you: these jerseys are better than their actual home and road jerseys. Not like that’s saying much, but I love the mountain outline and the creative font, plus the colors here work really well together.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Just an overall clean look. I love how the number is a bit angled, and the trim on the sleeves of the jerseys look really cool. It doesn’t have too much going on, but I think that’s a good thing here. Good job, Cavs.

San Antonio Spurs

Another one where not much is happening, but I don’t think they need it. The font of the San Antonio on the front of the jersey is super cool, and I love how the colors complement each other. I hope the font on the back isn’t like that, but it probably will be.

Detroit Pistons

Really like the cursive on the front, as well as the basketball and crossbones on the trim of the jersey. Very cool, kinda wish they did a bit more but overall very solid.

Phoenix Suns

Love, LOVE the trim on the side of the jersey. The Suns embracing the combination of the warm oranges and reds like a sunset to contrast the purple of the traditional jersey is just spectacular. Oh and they also added some script font on the front. Good job, Phoenix.

B Tier (would wear, not a first choice buy though)

Sacramento Kings

I like the choice of going vertical with the team name on the front of the jersey, and it’s really hard to mess up the colors they got going on. I think the number on the front can be a bit bigger because the name is on the left side, and it kind of looks off-center. Small technical things, but it’s fine overall.

Charlotte Hornets

These look very similar to their traditional jerseys, but I love the color choice here, it works really well.

Atlanta Hawks

I really like the colors and the font. That’s really what’s saving this from being one tier lower.

Houston Rockets

Like the font on the front, like the small tinges of blue outlining the front of the jersey and in between the red on the sleeves. They look really similar to the Chicago Bulls but I’ll allow it.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Look I know everyone hated these at the release, but I kinda like what they’re going for here. The gradient is pretty cool, and the only real problem I have with it is that the name on the front is really tiny.

Portland Trail Blazers

Is…is that plaid? On a jersey? Never thought I’d like that but here we are. It’s a pretty cool idea and design, it works for me.

C Tier (if someone bought it for me, I’d wear it but I’d give them a major side eye)

Los Angeles Lakers

Basic black Lakers jersey, but I kinda like angling the name on the front of the jersey. At least they tried something.

Dallas Mavericks

It just feels like they’ve done this before. That specific curling of the M and the S, I’m not sure. Outside of that … meh?

Golden State Warriors

Like the idea with the name on the front, and a cool effect on the numbers, but it just feels basic. Like a knockoff you see on like, Etsy.

Indiana Pacers

If NBA jerseys were designed by a child. An artistic child, but a child nonetheless.

Milwaukee Bucks

I wanted to put this lower, but there’s nothing outwardly bad about it. It’s just off-putting to see the Bucks in a bright blue jersey.

Oklahoma City Thunder

These look like jerseys they already have, but with black and orange instead of blue and orange.

D Tier (if you buy me this jersey, I’ll fight you)

Chicago Bulls

“What if we did the jersey like we did the Kings, but less creative?”

Philadelphia 76ers

Don’t like how small the font is on the front of this jersey, makes it really hard to read. Just feels pretty basic overall.

New Orleans Pelicans

We should’ve left the neon era in 2013.

Washington Wizards

I think I’m the most intrigued by the font, and why they would choose that for the Wizards. But the words below it are super tiny and the colors just seem bleh.

Toronto Raptors

Might be the worst of the OVO/Raptors collab, and that’s saying something.

New York Knicks

Whoever came up with the idea to do the shading under the white New York font needs to be fired, because yikes.

Boston Celtics

Wow, these jerseys will sure look great for the Milwaukee Bu-I mean Boston Celtics.

F Tier (kill it with fire)

Los Angeles Clippers

If you took the early 2000’s Wizards font and made it infinitely more boring.

Denver Nuggets

Fitting that the jerseys have 5,280 on them because I want these jerseys at least a mile away from me at all times.

Miami Heat

Memphis Grizzlies

I HATE the front of these jerseys. I get it’s supposed to say “MEM” but at least make it a bit easier on the viewers to make that decision!
