Let’s take a look at golf fashion from The Open. Justin Rose is among the five best-dressed this week, but we include the five worst.
The Open Championship has given fans plenty of carnage to look at the past two days. Despite the nasty weather and high scores, plenty of sharp outfits still existed.
With the fourth and final major here, it is only fitting to present the best-dressed golfers at the tournament’s midway point. To make this week extra special, we also included the five worst-dressed.
Remember, golf fashion is subjective. No answer is correct, and it is all about the person’s perspective. Some will like the worst-dressed looks, while others will hate some of the best-dressed options.
There were also many unmemorable outfits at Royal Troon. These were the ones that did not stand out too much, as the players looked like they usually do.
Players should always wear something fun. Even if this is the oldest major and the traditional aspect is encouraged, there are ways to make traditional look stylish.
Let’s get into the five best and worst-dressed players from The Open Championship.
Best-dressed players from the Open Championship:
5. Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland comes in at No. 5 because he missed the cut. But this green-colored hoodie paired well with the black pants, shoes, and hat.
This color choice looks fantastic on his skin tone and is trendy right now.

4. Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy is next because he also missed the cut. Regardless, this burgundy red sweater is one of my favorites from him. He matched the Nike swoosh on his shoe with it, and the grayish-white pants really let the sweater be the moment.
It is traditional but trendy. I have no notes on what could be better; I just wish we could see what he planned to wear on Saturday and Sunday.

3. Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown, the Cinderella story of the 152nd Open Championship, made the list for his Friday outfit. I adore his blue vest. The puffy vest is trendy, and I like that he paired it with a blue and white striped polo. Mixing the two textures, the puffy with a stripe, is appealing to the eye and it is a big reason I liked this choice.
His Ping hat seems to match the blue, and I like the white shoes with it.

2. Justin Rose

Justin Rose is tied for second after an impressive 3-under 68 on Friday.
He is now a Peter Millar athlete, and it looks fantastic on him. I love that he paired the Nike Low shoes with the navy pants and a blue-striped polo. It is another classic look that still gives on-trend vibes because of those shoes. He is so stylish and knows what looks good on him.
Rating: 9.8/10
1. Billy Horschel

When Billy Horschel is in the field, especially for a major, keeping him off the best-dressed list is hard. The Navy knit polo with the cream pants on Friday was my favorite, but he also looked great on Thursday with his vest and patterned polo.
He wears Ralph Lauren’s RLX, a traditional brand. However, knits are trendy right now, and this one looks fantastic. I’m keeping it short and sweet with him because he looks good, and I would not change a thing.

5 Worst Dressed Golfers at the Open Championship
5. Ludvig Åberg

It breaks my heart to put Ludvig Åberg on the worst-dressed list, but this Adidas polo is horrendous. They chose a paisley pattern and added stripes to it. The pants also do not fit him well and look wrinkled.
Åberg typically looks fantastic, but Adidas did not do him any favors with this look.
Rating: 5/10
4. Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa wore a pattern from Adidas on Friday. At the same time, it is not nearly as terrible as Åberg’s, but it still was not styled correctly. The khaki pants were not the right choice for this outfit.
These pants clash with the stark white hat. Why not put Morikawa in blush pants? His outfit would be on the best dressed list instead of the worst. A light blush pink would be a great color for the 2-time major winner’s skin tone.
Rating: 4.5/10
3. Robert MacIntyre

Nike likes to experiment, but the two patterns we saw on Robert MacIntyre in Rounds 1 and 2 were flat-out unappealing. Is it tropical? Are they birds? What pattern is this?
Regardless, it is ugly in the dark and light color wave. Come on, Nike, the confetti shirts and MacIntyre’s shirts do not work and it is time to try something else.
Rating: 3.5/10
2. Angel Hidalgo

Puma made a big mistake with these pullover hoodies, and poor Angel Hidalgo had to wear one of them. It is July, not December. The Christmas sweater should only come out after Thanksgiving.
Hidalgo’s pants do not go with it either. The colors of the hoodie clash. It is just ugly, and no one should wear this.
Rating: 2/10
1. Dean Burmester

The worst dressed golfer from the first two days has to be Dean Burmester. The green pants with the camouflage polo that is gray and black and the clashing green logo of his LIV Golf team irks me.
Not to mention, this camouflage looks messy, which I guess is the point, but still. Burmester did not look that bad when he had the gray pullover on, but I was stunned when he took it off—not in a good way, either.
This outfit was not my cup of tea, but I’m sure someone liked this look from Burmester.
