A new trailer for “Madden 25” teased a new feature, and perhaps a new position for Justin Fields
EA Sports is set to release the latest installment of the “Madden” video game series, and has been teasing new features in recent weeks as well as unveiling Christian McCaffrey as the latest cover star for the legendary game.
But their latest reveal teaser for “Madden 25” might have tipped a new position for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields.
The company released a video cutup on social media Thursday introducing “Boom Tech,” which EA Sports describes as a technology providing “ … authentic, one-on-one impacts fueled by physics.” According to the teaser trailer this technology will lead to “authentic, data-driven impacts” for players when playing the game.
However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed something rather interesting in the trailer.
Justin Fields: Kick returner?
That’s right, the trailer begins with the Cleveland Browns kicking off to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and newly-acquired quarterback Justin Fields settling under the kick, before handing off to Cordarrelle Patterson on a trick play on the Steelers’ return:
Both players were acquired by Pittsburgh this offseason. The Steelers added Patterson in free agency, with an eye towards the new kickoff rules, while Pittsburgh acquired both Russell Wilson and Fields to revamp their quarterback room. The Steelers signed Wilson to a rather inexpensive free agency deal thanks to the mechanics of his contract with the Denver Broncos, and traded for Fields to add another quarterback option on the roster.
And perhaps return some kicks, according to EA Sports.
