The Chiefs appeared to score the go-ahead touchdown on the coolest play ever, but it was wiped out by a stupid penalty.
Patrick Mahomes had just under two minutes to lead the Kansas City Chiefs on a drive to tie or win the game against the Buffalo Bills. Kansas City appeared to score the go-ahead touchdown on an incredible lateral from Travis Kelce to Kadarius Toney, but the play was called back because Toney lined up offsides.
The Bills beat the Chiefs, 20-17, after forcing a turnover on downs after the penalty wiped out the touchdown. The Bills move to 7-6 with the win, while the Chiefs fall to 8-5 with the loss.
This was truly one of the coolest touchdowns you will ever see. Mahomes found Kelce down the field near the right hash mark, and Kelce turned around and threw a lateral to Toney who waltzed into the end zone. Replay clearly showed Toney’s foot was across the line of scrimmage, hence the penalty. Watch video of the play here:
What a way to lose for Kansas City. The Chiefs’ wide receivers have been costing them wins all season, and this is another major example. The KC wide outs have been dropping passes all year, and now Toney’s penalty wiped out what could have been the game-winning TD.
Here’s the image of Toney lined up offsides:
Taylor Swift was in the stands and is probably sad now. The Chiefs wide receivers can’t keep getting away with it.
